1973 BSA a75r Formula 750 triple, ex Bee Bee Racing, ex works origins

$75,000.00

This is the real thing.

With the demise of the BSA/Triumph works team in 1972, the Bee Bee Bros. took up the challenge. They fielded four “triples,” each with a genuine Rob North chassis, featuring “works” origin components such as magnesium hubs, rare works P76 prototype T180 cases (only five sets built), quill drive ignition, Quaife gearbox, super-trick carbs, etc. The origin of these components is shrouded in “works” racing history but to the expert eye they speak volumes.

#00005 is their supreme example, and the last to be sold off, in 1980 to New York’s Team Obsolete equippe. Good friend John Wiman, former boss of the Mercury Keikshafer Nascar Team, acquired it. He and Dave Roper raced it at Bridgehampton and Loudon. Later it hung high from John’s fireplace. When John passed, Team Obsolete arranged for Seattle collector Wayne Perry to add it to his collection.

Recently Team Obsolete again acquired #00005.

It now has a fresh top end overhaul, and rebuilt hydraulics. It can be seen and run at our Brooklyn, NY headquarters by appointment. Everything on #00005 dates back to 1972, ex-works origin, including the bodywork, the tanks, the verified Rob North frame, the cases, the “quill drive” ignition, and the unique North “flats” on the exhaust collector. It still has the signature Bee Bee chrome fork legs and the horrible Bee Bee silencer.

Noteworthy Race Results:
1977 Silvertone Formula 1, Pole position and 2nd overall
1978 Isle of Man Formula 1, 7th place
(racing against 1000 c.c. bikes)
