THE WORLDS FIRST AND FOREMOST CLASSIC ROAD RACE TEAM

ABOUT US

Team Obsolete™ was formed over thirty years ago by classic racing visionary Rob Iannucci. The aim was to race rare and exotic grand prix bikes that were usually seen only in static displays or hidden away in private collections. T.O. (Team Obsolete) wanted the public to once again experience the racing sounds and auras of these rare machines. Racing priceless, one-off works machines may sound risky, but T.O. believed (and still does) that race bikes, no matter how rare, were created to be raced!

Team Obsolete has participated in more than 1,800 races worldwide, garnered twenty-two Daytona wins, and was the first American team ever to win the Isle of Man TT (1984) with Dave Roper on the 1959 Matchless G50 #1709.  Other wins include the French GP (Paul Ricard/Toulon), Assen (Holland), Brands Hatch (UK), Mallala (Australia), Pukekohe (New Zealand), La Carerra (Mexico), Mosport (Canada) plus virtually every USA venue.

Our extensive stable of historic motorcycles includes: the highly prized 1964 Honda 250/6, a screaming six cylinder, 18,000 rpm, 250 cc motorcycle (the only one of its kind in a private collection); the MV Agusta works racing 350/3, 500/3, 350/4, 500/4, 125/2; and MV’s last project, two extremely rare MV “Boxers”; a Benelli 350/4; an AJS 7R3 “Triple Knocker”; and an AJS Porcupine are just some of the other rare Grand Prix bikes in the collection. Through expert tuning skills, these classic bikes are faster than ever and have won more than four hundred races.

We take the “race-it” concept one step further, reuniting past champions with their original bikes. We saw the unique spectacle of riders like Jim Redman (winner of 6 world championships) riding the same 6 cylinder Honda he rode in the 60s!  At selected events, other world class riders were reunited with their machines, Giacomo Agostini (winner of 15 world championships), Michelle Duff, Don Vesco, Don Emde, Yvon DuHamel…

Team Obsolete’s current focus is on a number of custom built motorcycle projects, restorations and special appearances.
